The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), an agency under the Ministry of Employment and Labor, provides information on special health examination institutions in accordance with Article 135 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act to protect the health and safety of workers. Pre-placement health examination hospitals can be easily found by region through the search service provided by KOSHA. The service also allows for differentiated searches of special health examination institutions nationwide and specialized medical institutions that handle night shift work. Special health examinations are divided into pre-placement, regular, ad hoc, and temporary examinations to maintain the health of workers exposed to harmful agents and prevent occupational diseases. Harmful agents include approximately 180 items, such as chemical substances, radiation, dust, and night shift work. The examination cycle is set from 6 months to 24 months depending on the degree and type of exposure. These examinations must be conducted only by medical professionals who have received occupational disease prevention training and in certified facilities. Failure to comply may result in fines for both employers and employees. Pre-placement health examinations can be received at general hospitals and specialized centers after making a reservation in advance.
